Attention:
Washington Recovery Community
SOR is joining FAVOR , Join Together, the Johnson Institute, Raise Your Voice, Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP), and many other national and state organizations in supporting the repeal of the exclusionary clause of Higher Education Act which allows the federal government, states, and/or individual institutions the ability to deny financial aid to students receiving financial aid who have any drug related charge while enrolled in college. This provision does not pertain to any other crime, felony or alcohol related charge. We feel that it is discriminatory against low income students and not reflective of the recovery community’s platform of non-punitive measures of substance abuse prevention.
